Giresun, which is in Eastern Black Sea Region, is founded on a peninsula. Giresun, is one of the pearl like cities of Black Sea where green and blue are hug together at northern east of Anatolia. Virgin forests, plateaus and rivers of Giresun, which are very appropriate to tourism in connection with natural and historic values, are very attractive.
 
Districts : Alucra, Bulancak, Çamoluk, Çanakçı, Dereli, Doğankent, Espiye, Eynesil, Görele, Güce, Kesap, Piraziz, Şebinkarahisar, Tirebolu and Yağlıdere.
 
 How To Get
 
Highway:  Transportation to Giresun city is maintained via state highway with beautiful panorama, which is passing through coastal region.

 Where to Visit
 
GİRESUNCASTLE
 
Castle, which has a very rich historical culture was established at city center. Monumental tomb of National Strife Hero, Topal Osman Ağa, historical palace ruins, caverns, ramparts built with rough rocks and rock relieves are important points which can be seen in the Castle.
 
GİRESUN ISLAND
 
One and the only island of Black Sea, Giresun Island is one miles away from the coast.The island with 40.000 meters square area is visited during Aksu festivals and summer months via private voyages.
 
CHURCHES AND MAUSOLEUMS
 
Catholic Church (Children Library) Building, which is serving as Children Library in Çınarlar district is constructed on 18th century with gothic architectural style. It has protected its unique structure until today.
 
Seyyit Vakkas Mausoleum It is mausoleum, which remains from 19th century in Kapu District. It belongs to a territorial governor, Seyyit Vakks, who show great services during Fatih Sultan Mehmet and martyred during a combat. Although he had lived in 15th century, his mausoleum is constructed on 19th century.
 
TRADITIONAL GİRESUN HOUSES
 
District which is at south east of the castle and known as Zeytinlik District is composed of historical Giresun houses. They are under protection and a resort place for visitors. It is an interesting district which can be visited and seen by those who are interested in old houses.
 
BEACHES
 
Coasts at east and west of Giresun city are natural beaches which are longing for kilometers. Arif Kumaş, Giresun, Belediye (Municipality), Emniyet (Police), Tabya (Fortification) and Jandarma (Gendarme) beaches, which are approximately 5 km. away from city center are the main beaches of Giresun. Beaches in Giresun, where you can camp, are Arif Kumaş, Bulancak Belediye, Keşap Düzköy Belediye Beach, and Tirebolu Beach. Also every night during summer months Blue Tours between Giresun Island and Giresun Port is organized.
 
TERMAL SPRINGS
 
Giresun is famous with natural mineral waters. İnişdibi Mineral Water, Çaldağ Mineral Water; are on Batlama River. These mineral waters, which are bottled and marketed are good for renal sickness and easing the digestion. Pınarlar Mineral Water is at Kulakkaya road junction on Şebinkarahisar road.
 
HIGHLANDS
 
Plateaus of Giresun
 
Kümbet Highland
 
Transportation: It is located 52 km. south of Giresun and part of the town of Dereli. The road to the village is asphalt as far as Dereli (30 km) and a plain dirt road to Kümbet (22 km.). In the summer, there is a minibus service. If nature walks in the area use İkisu as a starting point and go by way of Güdül, the vista is splendid.
 
Description: With an elevation of 1640 m., the village has a completed infrastructure. There is a post office, health clinic, market, butcher, green grocer, restaurant, bakery, tea house and an auto repair shop.
 
The Kümbet Highlands, which is made up of Aymaç Hill, Melikli obası, Yavuzkemal and many other smaller highlands, are used heavily as camping and picnic areas. Situated 2 km west of Kümbet, is the magnificent peak of Aymaç. There are highland festivities held here the second Sunday of July every year and the Otçu festival is held the third Saturday of July on Sis Mountain.
 
There are woven and bound baskets for sale in the Kümbet highlands. One of the unique things about this highland village is that the butcher only sells lamb.
 
Accommodation - Food and Drink: There is a 10-bed hotel in the village. Basic necessities can be obtained here. One may also camp at the Forest Service facilities found on Salon meadow in the forest one kilometer north of Kümbet.
 
Hanalanı (Kulakkaya) Highland
 
Transportation: Access to this village located south of Giresun is via a 38 km dirt road. To reach the highland, use the minibus that goes to the Bektaş highland.
 
Description: This 1500 m. highland has the distinction of also being a natural botanic park. It is totally virgin forest.
 
Accommodation - Food and Drink: The houses in the village are used by the locals. Those who would like to camp should bring their own tents and other basic
 
Melikli Obası Highland
 
Transportation: This village located 40 km south of Giresun can be reached by taking one of the minibuses from the city.
 
Description: It has an elevation of 1500 m. The nearby town of Yavuzkemal has a health clinic and a post office.
 
Accommodation - Food and Drink: Camping equipment must be brought in but meat, milk, bread and eggs can be purchased in the village.
 
Bektaş Highland
 
Transportation: There are minibuses which provide transportation all year around to this village located 59 km. south of Giresun.
 
Description: This village, at 2000 m. is on the edge of the tree line. Despot Boulder and Gelin Boulder, both of which can be seen from the road, are extraordinary natural wonders. Kurttepe, one kilometer to the east, is a winter ski area.
 
The village has electricity, water and a post office, as well as a market, a butcher, a bakery and a tea house.

RUINS
 
Thousands of people come together with the aim of entertainment and recreation at the entrance of Aksu Stream, which is approximately 4 km. away from Giresun city center and on the Giresun - Trabzon coastal road. Having hundreds of years history, Seventh day of May tradition is still tried to be animated with "AKSU FESTIVALS", organized annually between May 20-23.
 
SPORTS ACTIVITIES
 
Karagöller mountains, 60 km. away from Giresun, are very appropriate for trekking. Most important routes are; Eğribel - Çoban Bağırtan, Turna Plains - Kümbet, Eğribel - Avşar Obası - Sağrak Lake, Kırklar Hill - Karagöl Hill - Aygır Lake - Elmalı Obası. Elevation of trekking routes are exceed up to 2.250 meters.
 
 Geography
 
Eastern Black Sea Region, in which Giresun is present, is the most precipitating region of the country. North and south parts of the Giresun varies in connection with climate characteristics and natural plant cover. In the temperate climate reigning city, summers are passing with intermediate temperatures and winters are temperate.

Collard and anchovy are remembered when Giresun is in question. Besides, also meals are cooked by corn flour. Some of the meals are; Collard Soup, Collard Dible, Nettle Puree, Corn Bread, Bean Pickle, Cherry Salting and Pezik Mıhlama.
